ORANGE COUNTY PREP BASKETBALL : Garden Grove League : Morales Carries Rancho Alamitos to Victory

Randy Morales scored 26 points and was the dominant floor leader as Rancho Alamitos High School defeated Bolsa Grande, 67-58, Wednesday night in a Garden Grove League showdown.

Both teams entered the game with 3-0 league records.

The Vaqueros (4-0, 10-7) led, 28-26, at halftime. Morales, a junior, and Roger Carter, a senior, hit from the outside to open the inside game for the taller Vaqueros. Carter finished with 15 points.

Lee Velasquez, 7-foot 1-inch center, had 10 points, 9 rebounds and 7 blocked shots to keep the Matadors away from the basket.

The Matadors (3-1, 10-6) were led by guard Nam Cao, who scored 17 points and kept Bolsa Grande close untill the fourth quarter.

“Our size made the difference,” said Pat Adams, the Rancho Alamitos coach. “Morales just controlled the tempo and the inside game for us.”
