Titan Gymnasts Beat Three Teams in Meet at UCSB

The Cal State Fullerton men’s gymnastics team, with a score of 248.80, took first place Friday in a nonconference invitational gymnastics meet at UC Santa Barbara.

The Titans were led by Brock Wilson, who took first place in the floor exercise (9.3) and tied for first with UCSB’s Terry Houlton on parallel bars (8.60). Sam Tribble scored a first for Fullerton on rings (9.05), and teammates Harry Loupakis (50.0) and Ric Draghi (49.90) finished second and third, respectively, in the all-around competition.

UCSB finished second with a score of 242.80. The Gauchos’ Troy Ankersen won the vault competition (9.25). San Jose State finished in third place with 240.25 points. Spartan Brian Heery was the winner on the high bar (9.10). Rounding out the four-team tournament was UC Davis with a score of 231.90. Thom Sterling won the pommel horse competition (8.4) and was the all-around winner with 50.70 points for the Mustangs.
