David Skier has been named varsity baseball coach at Highland Hall School in Northridge. Skier replaces Humberto Ramirez, who will coach the girls softball team.

Noel Hicks, a senior tailback at California Lutheran University, has been named to the National Assn. of Interscholastic Athletics All-America football team.

Hicks, who will graduate in May, is a geology major carrying a grade-point average of 3.64. Hicks earlier received the first Pat Malley Memorial Award by the Western Football Conference and was the Kingsmen’s co-most valuable player along with quarterback Tom Bonds.

Former Crespi pole vaulter Dave Kenworthy is tied with Doug Lytle, Brad Pursley and Dave Volz for third place in the latest Mobil Track and Field Grand Prix pole-vault point standings. World record holder Billy Olson is in first place with 40 points.

John Glantz, a freshman catcher from Birmingham High, will play his first college game for Pepperdine University when the Waves take on their Alumni Saturday at 1 p.m. in Malibu.

Sophomore third baseman Chris Cotley (Chaminade High) and sophomore pitcher Doug Simons (Calabasas) also will play for the Waves.

Valley-area alumni include shortstop Dana Saraceno (Notre Dame) and pitchers Scott Marrett (Calabasas ), Jon Smith (Crespi) and Rick Thurman (El Camino Real).

J. D. McSwain of Calabasas shot a 75 Monday to win the Senior Pro division of the Golden State Tour at the calabasas Golf & Country Club. Len Richardson of Calabasas also shot a 75 to win the Senior Amateur division.
