Successor Sought--The CIF Southern Section is forming a search committee following the resignation last week of Commissioner Ray Plutko. Plutko, 46, will head the Colorado High School Activities Assn. The CIF Southern Section has a history of promoting from within its organization, and several staff members are expected to seek the post.

49er Hall of Fame--Cal State Long Beach’s inaugural athletic Hall of Fame dinner will be Feb. 25 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Long Beach. Former athletes to be inducted are Ron Crawford, water polo; Judianne Kelly, badminton; Joan Lind, rowing; Lorie Lindahl, basketball; Terry Metcalf, football; Randy Moffitt, baseball; Mark O’Meara, golf; Billy Parks, football; Sharon Peterson, volleyball; John Rambo, track; Ed Ratleff, basketball; Jeff Severson, football, and Tim Shaw, swimming and water polo.

Carrier Makes Choice--Mark Carrier of Poly High School in Long Beach, one of the nation’s top defensive backs, has announced that he will attend USC. Carrier also made recruiting trips to UCLA, Notre Dame, Penn State and Arizona State.

New Football Coach--Lynwood High School defensive coordinator John Liebengood, 35, has been appointed head football coach at Estancia High in Costa Mesa.
