SAN DIEGO — Newman allowed only two hits and struck out 10 in seven innings Monday to lead the University of San Diego to a 9-1 victory over Claremont in a nonconference baseball game at USD.
Third baseman David Rolls hit a three-run home run and center fielder David Jacas added a solo home run for USD (3-0-1).
The Toreros play host to UC Irvine today at 2 p.m.
