Marvin Nelson of Culver City High School and Inglewood High School’s Eric Jordan were named the most valuable basketball players in the Ocean League, and Culver Coach Marty Siegal and Inglewood Coach Art Bias were chosen coaches of the year by league coaches.

All-league first-team selections included John Jones and Todd Semien, both of Culver City, and Lionel McPherson of Beverly Hills. Second-team selections included Culver’s Henry Johnson and Wayne Thompson of Beverly Hills.

In girls basketball, Nina Revoyr was selected on the All-Ocean League first team, and second-team choices included Tina Tamara of Beverly Hills and Kathy McGriff of Culver.

Elliot Hefler, adult sports coordinator for Culver City, is new president of the California Parks and Recreation Society District IX. Those serving for the second year of two-year terms in the district’s supervisors section include Jack Nakanishi, Culver recreation and leisure services manager, and Michael Cohen, recreation coordinator for Culver’s cultural arts program.

Holes in one were scored by Lucille Sitzman of West Los Angeles at Rancho Park Golf Course and by Sidney Pearl of West Los Angeles at Penmar.

Aces at Rancho’s nine-hole course were scored by Harry Kert and Roger Parise, both of West Los Angeles; Stephen J. McCarthy of Westchester, N. Y., and Steve Medler of Northridge.

Winners in the February tournament of the Penmar Men’s Golf Club were Pat Sullivan in A flight with a gross score of 34, Shel Smith in B flight with 38, Lionel Morales in C flight with 42 and George Ishizuka in the temporary handicap flight with 36.
