Oakwood 7, Southwestern 1--Oakwood’s Robbie Anker had a solo home run and a double in the Liberty League opener at Oakwood.

Teammates David Fond and Scott Marshall both had two RBI singles in the second.

Adam Mehr also had a solo home run for the Gorillas.

Highland Hall 7, California Christian 5--Highland Hall pitcher Aaron Ruddleson struck out five batters in four innings before the non-league game was called because of darkness.

Jason Tenney of Highland Hall was 3 for 3 with two RBIs, and teammate Scott McRae was 2 for 3 with a double, triple and three RBIs.

For California Christian, Scott Christlieb was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Burbank 4, Hart 3--The Bulldogs scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in the Foothill League game.

Leif Christofferson went the distance with seven strikeouts for Burbank (3-3).

Agoura 9, Santa Clara 7--The Chargers (3-2) jumped out to a 9-1 lead after four innings in the Frontier League win at home.

Agoura’s Marty Williams was 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI. Coelto Thomas of Santa Clara was 3 for 4.

Saugus 4, Burroughs Ridgecrest 1--Don Pedersen held the Burros scoreless for 6 innings in the Golden League victory at home.

Saugus’ Chris Joy hit a double and a single, and John Meyers hit a two-run double in the third inning.

St. Bonaventure 13, Oak Park 3--The Seraphs scored seven runs in the first inning in the Tri-Valley League game.

Oak Park’s Jeremy Lipton had three singles, and Wally Sweeterman was 2 for 4 with a double.

St. John Bosco 15, Alemany 4--Cary Windes, Steve Balstead and Mike McDermott hit home runs to lead the Braves to the Del Rey League win at home.

Marshall Fundamental 6, L.A. Lutheran 5--The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth in the Alpha League opener at home.

Santa Paula 3, Calabasas 1--Eddie Mendoza held the Coyotes to five hits in the Frontier League opener.

Richard Marquez and Larry Ceroa were both 2 for 4 for the Cardinals.

Alhambra 8, Burroughs (B) 2--Mario Molina won his third game for the Moors in the Foothill League game.

Burroughs’ E.J. Pane was 2 for 3.

Softball

Village Christian 3, Western Christian 1--Michelle Vail pitched her third one-hitter of the season in the Crusaders’ Alpha League opener at home.

Vail (4-2) lost her bid for a no-hitter when Western Christian scored off an error in the sixth.

St. Genevieve 2, Hoover 0--Rosemary Connor pitched a no-hitter, but the Valiants scored two unearned runs in the non-league game.

Ann Baidez struck out nine and picked up the win for St. Genevieve (5-1). Hoover is 3-3.

Oakwood 18, Cal Prep 13--Lauren Eskinazi had four hits to lead the Gorillas in the Liberty League game.

Oakwood’s Rachelle Willner was 3 for 6. Cal Prep’s Julie Bosca was 3 for 5 with a double.

Kennedy 8, San Pedro 0-Pauline Madrid pitched the second no-hitter of her career to lead the Golden Cougars.

Madrid (4-0) struck out eight and walked one. She was 2 for 3 at bat.

Kennedy (4-1) was also led by Krissy Erickson, who was 3 for 4 with three RBIs.

Crossroads 6, Providence 0--Carla Roley shut out the Pioneers on one hit in the Delphic League opener.

L.A. Baptist 16, Montclair Prep 1--Angela Kruzner was 4 for 4, scored two runs and drove in two to lead the Knights in the Alpha League opener.

Brentwood 21, Buckley 13--Brentwood had only nine hits to Buckley’s 11, but took advantage of 12 Griffin errors to win the Delphic League opener.

Burroughs 1, Crescenta Valley 0--Christy Alves tossed her third consecutive shutout for the Indians (9-0).

Moorpark 17, Oak Park 7--The Musketeers pounded out 13 hits in the Tri-Valley League opener at Oak Park.

Crystal Babcock went 3 for 5 to lead Moorpark. Teammates Kellee Roe, Monica Alverez and Susan Steele also had two hits each.

Royal 17, Channel Islands 2--Julie Myers led the Highlanders to an easy victory in the Marmonte League game.

Myers was 3 for 5 with a double and 3 RBIs, while Dianne Avery was 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs.

Chatsworth 13, Cleveland 2--Stephanie Ellis and Valerie Arst led the Chancellors at Chatsworth.

Ellis was 2 for 4 and Arst was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.

Girls Track

Chaminade 69, Westlake 49--Becky Golbert won the two mile and finished second in the mile for Westlake during the non-league meet at Chaminade.

Boys Volleyball

Harvard d. Culver City 15-5, 15-7, 13-15, 15-5--Outside hitters John Phelps and Bobby Hillman led the Saracens.

Harvard is 4-1, 5-1 overall.
