Sean Higgins, Fairfax High star basketball player, was named the most valuable player in the Valley League by league coaches. Fairfax players selected on all-league teams were Chris Mills, first team, and J.D. Green, second.

Fairfax Coach Harvey Kitani said that Higgins also was named a third-team All-American by Parade Magazine.

Greg Spector of University High School and Michael Victor of Brentwood School were selected for the Southern California Boys Junior Maccabi basketball team, and Elisha Rothman of Yeshiva University High School was named an alternate, according to Sy Hauser, chairman of boys and girls basketball for the Los Angeles Maccabi team.

Mildred Moore, 74, of West Los Angeles, a member of the Rancho Park Golf Course Women’s Club, shot her first hole in one in 63 years of playing golf. Moore used a 5-wood at the 143-yard third hole at Rancho.

Other holes in one at Los Angeles municipal golf courses were made by Thomas W. Donahue of Rancho Palos Verdes and Herb Rimlinger and Jack Kamen, both of West Los Angeles, and by Gene Martin of Santa Monica and Robert Orozco of Beverly Hills at Penmar.
