The State : 6 Die When Car Hits Tree
A speeding car drifted off a rural road in Shasta County and slammed into a tree, killing six of the car’s seven occupants, the California Highway Patrol said. The survivor, Ted Wilson, 25, of Hat Creek, was hospitalized in serious condition with possible internal injuries. None of the other victims was immediately identified. The CHP said the accident occurred on Bidwell Road off California 89 near Burney. The 1973 Ford Galaxy was moving at high speed and drifted from the westbound lane into the eastbound lane, onto the shoulder and into a tree, officers said.
