There is something very odd about the charge that racism was responsible for “The Color Purple” not having won any Academy Awards.

It seems that the people making this charge are the same ones who earlier were charging that the movie itself is racist. It therefore seems to me that some academy members may have responded to the initial charge and refrained from voting awards for “The Color Purple.”

Wouldn’t this make the results the opposite of racism?
