Miraculous Day for Stevens--5 Winners
Miraculous, ridden by Gary Stevens, closely followed Top Corsage most of the way and passed her in the final strides to win the $65,350 Providencia Stakes by a head Wednesday at Santa Anita.
It was the fifth win of the day for Stevens, who trails leader Chris McCarron by five winners (94-89) in the jockey standings for the Santa Anita meeting.
Eddie Delahoussaye and Top Corsage finished 1 lenths in front of Roberto’s Key, ridden by Bill Shoemaker, in the 1 1/8-mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies.
Miraculous ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:47 4/5 and paid $28, $9.60 and $4.20. Top Corsage paid $4.60 and $3; Roberto’s Key returned $2.80 to show.
