College Swimming : OCC Win Streak Stretches to 41

Cheri Carpenter qualified for the State swim championships in four events Friday, and the Orange Coast College women’s team breezed past Saddleback, 91-31, in a South Coast Conference meet at OCC.
The Pirates (7-0, 6-0) have won 41 meets in a row. Carpenter qualified for the State meet by winning the 50-yard freestyle, 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke and being on the winning 200 free relay team. Paula Perry also won four events for Orange Coast--the 50 breaststroke, 100 breast, and 200 free relay.
In men’s swimming action:
Saddleback 58, Orange Coast 46--The Pirates (4-2, 5-2) took the Gauchos (6-0, 6-0) to the last relay of the day before falling. Saddleback’s Rhett Chee Ping and Kim Dellota were triple winners. Chee Ping won the 1,000 free, 500 free and 100 free. Dellota took the 200 free, 200 breast and 200 back.
