Cal State Fullerton Signs Top Recruit for Gymnastics
The Cal State Fullerton men’s gymnastics team won a recruiting battle Friday with UCLA, Minnesota and Illinois when Bill Barham, one of the nation’s top high school recruits, signed a letter of intent to compete for the Titans.
Barham, a senior at the Galloway School in Atlanta, won first place all-around in the national junior Olympics in 1984. With his club team, the Atlanta School of Gymnastics, he twice won the individual all-around title at the National Boys’ Invitational meet in Allentown, Pa., and led the club to the team cup in 1983 and 1985.
“He doesn’t have a weak event,” said Fullerton Coach Dick Wolfe. “Bill’s form and technique are impeccable. He has world-class form, technique and presentation right now.
