Cheerleaders Score Triumph: A cheerleading squad from Cypress High School placed first Sunday in the pompon division at the fifth annual World International Cheerleading and Pompon Championship tournament in Chicago. About 700 cheerleaders from 50 high schools and organizations in the United States and Canada competed in the event, sponsored by the U.S. Cheerleading Assn. Top honors went to Kincaid High School in Kincaid, Ill., for the best varsity cheerleading squad from a small school, and to Hanover Area High School in Wilkes Barre, Pa., which won for large schools.
