College Softball : Martin Leads Rancho Santiago Over Golden West
Sophomore Kim Martin pitched a two-hit shutout to lead Rancho Santiago College to a 3-0 win over Golden West in a South Coast Conference softball game Wednesday in Huntington Beach.
The Dons scored three runs in the sixth inning to give Martin her 17th win of the season against one defeat. The shutout was Martin’s sixth in seven conference starts. She has not allowed an earned run in conference play.
The win was Rancho Santiago’s first ever over the Rustlers at Golden West. The Dons are 9-0, 29-4. Golden West is 6-3, 19-7.
In other South Coast Conference action:
Cypress 3, Saddleback 0--Cypress catcher Joelle Wilkerson, who signed a letter of intent with Arizona State earlier this week, had two hits, one RBI and threw out three Saddleback baserunners to lead the Chargers to the win at Cypress. Shannon Foster (12-6) pitched a four-hitter to get the win. Cypress is 5-4, 26-12. Saddleback is 4-5, 14-12.
