Fire at Carl’s Jr.: An early morning fire gutted a Carl’s Jr. restaurant Saturday, causing an estimated $450,000 damage. The fire was reported at 3:39 a.m., and 50 firefighters fought the flames for almost an hour, a county fire department spokeswoman said. Damage to the fast-food restaurant, located at 4770 Irvine Blvd., was listed as $350,000 to the structure and $100,000 to the contents. The cause was unknown. An Irvine Police Department spokesman said that there have been a number of small arson fires in the area recently. The restaurant was closed when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported.
