BRIEFLY : Master’s Signs 3 Basketball Players
Three recruits have signed to play basketball at Master’s College, according to Coach Randy Stem. The three are center Steve Gertsen, 6-9; center Steve Hammond, 6-6, and guard William Cunningham, 6-0.
Cunningham, of Anchorage Christian High in Anchorage, Alaska, was a first-team all-state selection. He averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists a game. “He’s going to come in and play right away,” Stem said. “He’ll have an immediate impact on our program.”
Stem said Gertsen and Hammond “could be a year away, but both have good potential.”
Hammond played at Heritage Christian in Cleveland, Tex. He averaged 24 points and 15 rebounds a game. Gertsen played at Biola for a year before signing with Master’s.
The three recruits will join 6-4 Rocky Shipes of Fresno, who committed to attend the Newhall school last month.
