The Del Rey League made an excellent showing at Bradford Stadium in Placentia.

Alemany led the way, qualifying 11 individuals in 10 different boys and girls events and can be expected to give a strong showing in the 2-A finals, next Saturday at Cerritos College.

The strongest event will be the boys high jump where both Brian Robinson and Dave Swanson qualified at 6-4. Swanson has cleared 7 feet earlier this year.

Chris Fisher, Notre Dame, won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a mark of 39.10. He will be the top seed next Saturday.

Head Coach Jon Mack of Notre Dame is looking forward to a showdown between Fisher and Loyola’s Eddie McElroy, who finished third in 39.93. “It will be a tight race, and Fisher has to be at his best. They have battled each other the past four years and it should be exciting, “ Mack said.

Calabasas’ Andrea De La Monica is the top seed in the 800. She won the event with a time of 2:17.31.

Agoura will send four competitors to the finals. Calabasas will have three, Crespi two and Notre Dame two.

“This is always a competitive league,” Mack said. “Everyone is close and it showed today as our league will be well represented in the finals.”
