A Southeast San Diego house caught fire Thursday for the third time in five years, causing $90,000 damage.

Firefighters from San Diego and Spring Valley arrived to find the house in the 7700 block of Shorewood Drive engulfed in flames, according to Rob Drake, San Diego Fire Department spokesman.

A resident was burned on the arm while trying to fight the blaze, Drake said. About 75% of the house was destroyed. Investigators from the Metro Arson Strike Team said the cause of the fire was a cigarette smoldering on a sofa.
