Former world featherweight champion Bobby Chacon was jailed on charges of beating his live-in girlfriend.

Chacon, who is appealing a judge’s ruling to revoke his probation in connection with a conviction for beating his ex-wife, was taken into custody at his Oroville apartment. He was held without bail at the Butte County Jail.

Police said Renee Vincent, 25, who said Chacon was her fiance, told them that she and Chacon argued at a Chico restaurant Wednesday night. She said Chacon punched her on the nose and broke it as they were driving through Chico afterward, and that Chacon also threatened to drop her off a cliff.

She added that when they stopped for gas, she drove off and left Chacon at the gas station. Later, she said, Chacon found her at her mother’s apartment and slapped her.

Chacon, who is scheduled to fight Arnel Arrozal June 5 at Sacramento, was booked on two felony counts--corporal punishment on a cohabitant and battery with serious bodily injury.
