Anaheim : 3 Floats Destroyed in Fire on Disneyland Lot
A fire on the Disneyland back lot destroyed three parade floats and damaged others, most from the Magic Kingdom’s “Fantasy on Parade” Christmas pageant, park officials said.
A spokesman for the Anaheim Fire Department said the Friday blaze was caused by concentrated sunlight reflected from a cover of mirrored glass on the Wizard of Oz float onto the float’s wooden deck. Two other floats, Queen of Hearts and the House of Pinocchio, were destroyed and six others damaged.
Both city and park firefighters worked to control the blaze, which took approximately 20 minutes to extinguish. No one was injured, and Disneyland officials have not yet estimated the damage.
