Joey Olivera to Fight Tonight in Irvine
A 10-round lightweight bout between Joey Olivera of Pasadena and Felipe Sanchez of Mexico City will highlight the boxing card at the Irvine Marriott Hotel tonight.
Olivera (12-4) is coming off a 10-round victory over Korean champion Okyu Chang. Sanchez, 10-1, will be fighting in his first 10-round bout.
On the undercard, former national Golden Gloves winner Manuel Vallejo of El Monte will meet Ernie Nava in a welterweight bout, and Dave Yonko of Long Beach will meet Sean Desmond of Garden Grove in a heavyweight bout.
Canto Robledo, the only known blind boxing manager in professional boxing, will be honored during the evening.
Tickets in all price categories will be on sale at 10 this morning in the grand ballroom of the hotel. The first bout will start at 7:30 p.m.
