A grand jury in Houston will determine whether New York Met pitcher Ron Darling and second baseman Tim Teufel should be indicted on charges of assaulting two police officers working off-duty at a nightclub, a judge ruled.
Darling and Teufel attended Friday’s examining trial. They were arrested early July 19 outside Cooter’s nightclub in Houston and accused of assaulting an off-duty police officer during a scuffle.
Pitchers Bob Ojeda and Rick Aguilera were arrested and charged with hindering arrest, and all four were released later that afternoon. A hearing on the misdemeanor charges against Ojeda and Aguilera is pending.
