A 6-year-old boy was dead and two girls were in critical condition Tuesday after they were hit by a pickup truck driven by a Camp Pendleton Marine in San Clemente. Miguel Palacios, his sister, Sandra, 7, and a cousin, Diana Tajardo, 8, were crossing El Camino Real in a crosswalk at Avenida San Luis Rey about 8:30 p.m. Monday when the truck slammed into them, San Clemente Police Lt. Al Ehlow said. Police booked the driver of the pickup truck, Cpl. Michael D. Cox, 21, on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
