College Volleyball : Fullerton Women Win in Opener
A pair of freshmen helped the Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball team win its first match of the season Tuesday night, as the Titans defeated Cal Poly Pomona, 20-18, 15-4, 13-15, 15-8, in nonconference action at Titan Gym.
Middle blocker Tammy Miller, the younger sister of USC basketball star Cheryl Miller, had 15 kills and five blocks, and outside hitter Susan Herman added 12 kills for Fullerton (1-1).
In other nonconference action:
Chapman 3, Southern California College 0--Junior outside hitter Tammy Light had 12 kills and Janet Jenson added seven to lead the Panthers (2-1) to a 15-2, 15-12, 15-8 victory over the Vanguards in the Hutton Sports Center at Orange.
In All-Cal Tournament action:
The UC Irvine women’s volleyball team (3-5) lost two matches at UC Santa Cruz, falling to California, and to UC Riverside.
