PREP FOOTBALL : Laguna Hills Loses Its 14th Game in a Row as Dana Hills Wins, 34-7

Dana Hills High School handed Laguna Hills its 14th loss in a row Friday, running over the Hawks, 34-7, at Dana Hills.

Senior running back Victor Vurpillat led the Dolphins, rushing for 99 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half.

Dana Hills took the opening kickoff and marched 80 yards in 8 plays to take a 7-0 lead. Vurpillat scored the first touchdown on a four-yard run.

On Laguna Hills’ second play from scrimmage, senior defensive back Todd Priest intercepted Laguna Hills quarterback Chris Leigber and returned the pass 34 yards for a touchdown.

Vurpillat capped a 10-play, 71-yard scoring drive with a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to make it 21-0.

Dana Hills added a fourth touchdown with 54 seconds left in the half. Quarterback Jason Hickman drove the Dolphins 61 yards in one minute. He threw a 21-yard pass to running back Jason Burden to begin the drive. Vurpillat ended it with a touchdown run from two yards out. J. B. Hollis kicked his fourth extra point to put Dana Hills ahead, 28-0.

Burden scored the Dolphins’ final points on a 17-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Leigber drove the Hawks 79 yards in 9 plays in the fourth quarter for Laguna Hills’ only score. He hit wide receiver Brian Fleming with a 4-yard touchdown pass.
