Community College Roundup : Rustlers Split Cross-Country Meet
The Golden West College men’s cross-country team defeated Compton, 24-50, but lost to Pasadena City, 30-25, Thursday in its South Coast Conference opener at Pasadena.
The Rustlers’ Frank Bantle covered the four-mile course in 21 minutes 15 seconds to finish second overall. Pasadena City’s Richard Sanchez had a time of 21:08 to finish first.
Danny Acosta of Golden West was fifth in 21:36, and teammate Rodney Lieterman was sixth with a time of 21:41.
In community college water polo action:
De Anza 11, Cypress 3--The Chargers (1-2) got two goals from sophomore Brian Howe and one from freshman Hans Snijdewind in the loss.
