San Diego Volleyball : Sato Sets ‘Em Up and Aztecs Keep It Up to Go 18-0

FULLERTON — Setter Liane Sato led San Diego State to a 15-12, 15-8 victory over Loyola Marymount Saturday in the final of the Titan-Mizuno Volleyball Preview tournament at Cal State Fullerton.
The Aztecs, ranked No. 1 by the NCAA, improved their record to 18-0. SDSU had set a school record for consecutive victories Friday. The previous mark was 13 set in 1982.
The Aztecs breezed to the final by beating host Fullerton in the quarterfinals, 15-3, 15-2, and Southwest Texas in the semifinals, 15-2, 15-11. Sato was named the tournament’s most valuable player, joining teammate Kris Morton on the all-tournament team.
Also named to the team was Claudia Johnson of United States International University. The Gulls finished seventh with losses to Loyola Marymount and Boise State.
