The head varsity basketball coach at a parochial school in Torrance was found shot to death early this morning, behind KTLA television studios in Hollywood. A passing motorist spotted the body of Stirling H. Hart Jr., 31, sprawled across a gutter.
Detective Russ Kuster said that Hart had been shot several times and that there was “a definite possibility” of robbery. Hart, who lived in Hollywood with his wife, was preparing for his first season as head coach at Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, where a school official said he had worked for two years. Police as yet have no suspect in the slaying.
