San Clemente Shuts Out Rancho Alamitos, 13-0

Senior fullback Paul Glissman rushed for 101 yards and scored the game’s only touchdown as San Clemente High School shut out Rancho Alamitos, 13-0, Friday night at Bolsa Grande Stadium in Garden Grove.

For the second consecutive week, the Tritons played without their top runner, senior Dan Morgan, but Glissman filled the void, carrying 17 times and scoring on a three-yard run in the third quarter.

Rancho Alamitos outgained San Clemente in total yardage, 179 to 147, but couldn’t sustain its drives.

Vaqueros quarterback John Newsome completed 10 of 25 passes for 111 yards, but the closest his offense came to scoring was the 15-yard line with just under two minutes left in the game. The Triton defense then forced three straight incomplete passes to end the threat.

San Clemente improved its record to 3-1; Rancho Alamitos is 0-3-1.

In other nonleague action:

Channel Islands 22, Santa Ana Valley 14--The Falcons, who had scored six points in each of their first three games, fell to 0-4 with the loss in Oxnard.
