Practice was canceled for Tennessee Wesleyan’s football team to let about 50 players and coaches recover from a bout of apparent food poisoning. Members of the team and coaching staff became ill over the weekend during a trip to Jackson, Tenn., to play Lambuth College.

The team ate at the same restaurant Friday night and Saturday before the game. he said. All but two coaches and several players among about 55 people on the trip suffered from nausea, diarrhea and vomiting, most immediately after the game.

The squad, which lost to Lambuth, 28-0, plans to play Knoxville College in Chattanooga this Saturday as scheduled.
