A mother and her 14-year-old son were killed in a fire in their El Monte home, and two other boys, believed to be sons in the same household, were injured. El Monte fire dispatchers said no identities would be released until today, and the cause of the fire was under investigation. He was in serious condition at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia.
