College Roundup : Six UC Irvine Women Will Compete in Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament

Six players from the UC Irvine women’s tennis team will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Assn.’s Rolex Southern California Championships, today through Sunday at Irvine.

Stephanie Rhorer, Haruko Shigekawa, Dina Trenwith, Kathy Rose, Uma Rao and Courtney Weichsel will be among the 64 players from 13 schools playing for berths in 1987 ITCA/Rolex National Indoor Championships Feb. 5-8 at the University of Richmond. Winners of the singles and doubles tournament advance.

Matches begin today at 8 a.m. The singles final is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday, to be followed by the doubles championship. Admission is free.
