Community College Football : Southwestern (4-0) Could Put Saddleback’s Back to Wall
Southwestern College could damage Saddleback’s hopes for a Mission Conference title Saturday, although there are still five weeks left in the season.
Southwestern (4-0 in conference) travel to Mission Viejo to play Saddleback, which has won or tied for the conference title the last 10 seasons. But the Gauchos have two conference losses already and a third would all but eliminate them.
Saddleback (2-2-0 in conference) has scored only 19 points in its last two games and is two games behind Southwestern and Riverside.
San Diego Mesa limited Saddleback to a field goal in the Olympians’ 14-3 victory last Saturday. Riverside ended Saddleback’s 49-game home winning streak with a 21-16 upset the week before.
Southwestern, which defeated Rancho Santiago, 34-17 last Saturday, plays Riverside Nov. 11 in Riverside.
