As a basketball player at Virginia, Kenny Lambiotte was basically a spear-carrier on a team led by Ralph Sampson. Seeing little future on the courts, he decided to try football.

He went to football Coach George Welsh and asked if he could try out for quarterback. Welsh offered little encouragement, so Lambiotte decided to take his act elsewhere. He transferred to William & Mary.

In last Saturday’s game between Virginia and William & Mary, Lambiotte completed 29 of 37 passes for 307 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 2 more scores.

Said Dallas Coach Tom Landry, when asked how Cowboy quarterback Steve Pelluer will handle the Raider rush Sunday: “The Raiders won’t rattle Steve. He has a lot of poise. We weren’t sure until the Denver game when he started. But anybody who survived that game with his life has to be unusual.”

Add Raiders: Says Lester Hayes: “The next seven games are Silver and Black victories. I want to still have an opportunity to play those guys at 5,000 feet again. If we play John (Goose Gooden) Elway again, we will be victorious. I don’t want to be home being St. Nick in December. That thought is null and void.”
