Miguel (Happy) Lora of Colombia scored a unanimous decision over a bloody Alberto Davila at Barranquilla, Colombia, to retain his World Boxing Assn. bantamweight title.
Before 50,000 spectators at Metropolitan Stadium, Latin America’s biggest boxing crowd, Lora (25-0) battered his Los Angeles-based opponent from the second round on but was unable to knock him down.
Judge Carol Castellanos favored Lora, 117-111; Angel Luis Guzman of Puerto Rico and Newton Campos of Brazil both had it 118-112.
