DETROIT — Right-hander Jack Morris, who won 14 of his final 16 decisions this season, has been named the Tiger of the Year in voting by the Detroit chapter of the Baseball Writers Assn. of America.
Morris, 31, posted a 21-8 record and 3.27 earned-run average despite getting off to a rocky start. He was the second-highest winner in the majors behind Roger Clemens of Boston.
