Los Amigos Rolls Into Playoffs, 34-7
Los Amigos combined a strong running attack and a tough defense to earn a 34-7 victory over Garden Grove Saturday night at Garden Grove High School, clinching third place in the Garden Grove League and a spot in the Southern Section playoffs.
Lobo running back Mike Eicherly rushed for 88 yards, including touchdown runs of 51 and 26 yards, in five carries. Lito Soisua carried 11 times for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Los Amigos finished with a 3-2 league record, 6-4 overall. The Argonauts, who would have advanced to the playoffs with a victory, finish 2-3, 2-8.
The Lobos defense intercepted four Garden Grove passes, the last at their four-yard line, to stop the Argonauts’ only serious threat in the second half.
Frank Ramirez returned a Garden Grove fumble 85 yards in the first half to stop another drive.
Garden Grove averted a shutout when reserve quarterback John Lung hit Billy Moll for a 14-yard touchdown pass late in the first half.
Lutheran 27, Southern California Christian 14--Sophomore Jason Neeben rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns in 20 carries to lead the Lancers (1-4, 3-7) to an Olympic League victory over the Flames (0-5, 3-7) at Orange.
