Cal State Northridge President James W. Cleary...
Cal State Northridge President James W. Cleary is expected to approve a proposal for the university to seek NCAA Division I status in all sports except football.
The proposal was made after a unanimous vote by the university’s physical education instructors and coaches, who were asked by Cleary last spring to study the move.
The university will have to comply with Division I academic and scheduling standards for three years before it can complete the move. Northridge will remain a member of the Division II Western Football Conference.
