Soccer Roundup : Sweeney’s 2 Second-Half Goals Pace Valencia to Nonleague Win Over Sonora

Kameron Sweeney scored two second-half goals Monday to help Valencia High School to a 2-1 nonleague victory over Sonora in a girls’ soccer match at Sonora.
Sonora (0-1) had taken a 1-0 by halftime but Sweeney tied the score early in the second half off an assist from Michelle Hales. Sweeney’s second goal came late in the game and was set up by a pass from Rayanne Wells.
Valencia (1-0) goalie Mary Melia had three saves.
Brea-Olinda 3, Fullerton 2--Freshman Carrie Lewis scored two goals to help the Wildcats (1-0) to the victory at Fullerton. Michelle Padilla had the other goal for Brea. Fullerton received goals from Mary Reicks and Marilellen Lindsay.
