Canyon (11-1) vs. Muir (12-0) at Glendale High: Canyon, which this season equaled the longest winning streak (46) in Southern Section history, meets Muir, which owns the Southern Section’s longest current streak (22).
Kennedy (6-3-1) vs. Banning (10-0) at Long Beach Veteran’s Stadium: Banning has not lost to a Valley team since 1975, but Kennedy gives the Pilots trouble. Banning beat Kennedy, 14-0, in last season’s City Section 4-A playoffs.
Carson (9-1) at Granada Hills (9-0-1): Granada Hills, the only unbeaten team in the Valley, could make the City 4-A final if its offense is in gear.
Eisenhower (10-2) vs. Crespi (11-1) at Birmingham High: Last week, Eisenhower upset the No. 1-seeded team in the Big Five Conference, Bishop Amat, 14-7. Crespi should advance to the final if Russell White continues to rush for triple figures.
Hart (11-1) at Santa Maria (11-1): Santa Maria finished second in the Northern League but has never seen a quarterback like Jim Bonds. The toughest part for Hart may be the 3 1/2-hour drive to Santa Maria.
Burroughs (10-1-1) at Temple City (12-0): Burroughs will have to play its finest game to defeat Temple City, the No. 1-seeded team in the Northwestern Conference, and earn a rematch with Hart in the final.
Harvard (11-1) vs. St. Joseph (10-3) at Righetti High: Harvard, which lost in the final last season, continues its quest for a Desert-Mountain Conference title behind the running of Andy Bell.
Calabasas (8-3-1) at Atascadero (9-2-1): Calabasas is coming off the biggest win in the history of the school--a 26-25 victory over Bloomington, the No. 1-seeded team in the Desert-Mountain Conference.
Reseda (8-2) vs. Los Angeles (8-1-1) at Westchester High: Los Angeles lost several key players to academic ineligibility and may be no match for Reseda’s defense.
