HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER : Schindler, Carrillo Combine for 4 Goals to Lead Granada Hills Victory

Peter Schindler and Jorge Carrillo combined for four goals and an assist to lead Granada Hills High to a 5-0 Mid-Valley league victory over Monroe at home Tuesday.

The Highlanders scored four goals in the first 11 minutes to wrap the game up early. After Brent Small scored the initial goal on a free kick, Carrillo followed with an assist from Adam Kleiger.

The Highlanders went ahead, 3-0, when Carrillo scored his second goal on an assist from Schindler and Trevor Doyle then assisted Schindler on his first goal.

Goalie Brian DeHaaff had 15 saves for Granada Hills (2-1-1 in league, 3-2-2 overall).

Chatsworth 3, Cleveland 0--Larry Fernandez, Jim Goldstein and Colin Anthony each scored a goal.

Chatsworth, the defending league champion, are 4-0-3 in league and 7-0-4 overall.

Oak Park 3, L.A. Baptist 1--Junior Joey Gerte scored his first of two goals five minutes into the game on an assist from Scott Tsugi. Scott Gibbons assisted Gerte on his second goal and sophomore Greg Kokenis added a break-away goal late in the second half for Oak Park (2-0). Oak Park’s David Stephens had seven saves. L.A. Baptist is 0-1.

Alemany 2, Moorpark 0--Senior Steve Renaud scored at the 12- and 32-minute marks in the nonleague game at Alemany. Alemany (1-0) has 15 returning players from last season’s team. Moorpark is 0-1.

Poly 1, North Hollywood 0--Junior Jose Lopez scored the lone goal for Poly (6-1 in the East Valley League, 10-1 overall). North Hollywood is 3-4 in league. GIRLS SOCCER Alemany 5, Westlake 2--Forwards Shannon Lambert and Sondra Shatkin led Alemany to victory in the nonleague game at Westlake on Monday. Lambert scored three goals and Shatkin scored two.
