Cal Lutheran Women Win, 76-65

The Cal Lutheran women’s basketball team survived an ugly game, which included 49 turnovers and 62 fouls, to beat LaVerne on Tuesday at Cal Lutheran, 76-65.
Cal Lutheran led, 71-48, before it brought in reserves, who were outscored, 17-5. Cal Lutheran was led by center/forward Gloria Phillipps, who scored 17 points and had 15 rebounds, and forward Kim Peppi, who came off the bench to score 19 points, grab 11 rebounds and make 10 steals.
Jennifer Tallugan, formerly of Newbury Park High, led LaVerne with 15 points.
Cal Lutheran, which is coming off its best season (14-13 last year), is 1-2.
