Orange County Prep Soccer : Teran’s Goal Gives Brea-Olinda 2-1 Win

Fullback Steve Teran scored on a header at the 36-minute mark of the second half to give the Brea-Olinda High School boys’ soccer team a 2-1 victory over Ocean View in a nonleague match at Brea Junior High School.

Brea’s Robbie Hillard scored at the five-minute mark to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead before Ocean View’s Jesus Silva tied the score early in the second half.

Billy Cruz assisted on both Brea-Olinda goals.

Brea is 4-4-1; Ocean View is 5-1-1.

In other nonleague matches:

Fullerton 3, La Quinta 1--Luis Moran, Charlie Jaimes and Mike Jones scored for the Indians (1-4-1). La Quinta is 3-2-3.

Foothill 2, Servite 0--The Knights shut out the Friars at Foothill. Servite is 1-2.

Tustin 3, Woodbridge 2--Kevin Villar scored for Tustin on a header off a cross from Matt Alexander with three minutes left. Alexander and Tom Kotlar scored in the first half, giving the Tillers (3-3-1) a 2-0 lead at halftime. Woodbridge (4-3-1) tied the score, 2-2, in the second half on two goals by Jeff Smith.

Orange 1, Edison 0--Senior outside halfback Joe Sanchez scored on a breakaway in the last four minutes as the Panthers (6-2-1) upset the Chargers at Chapman College. It was Sanchez’s first goal of the season. Most of game’s action was in the middle of the field. Orange goalie David Bjorklund made seven saves and Edison’s Ken Klein had four.

Dana Hills 3, Estancia 1--Jeff Meredith, Chris Astrand and Kevin Phemm each scored for the Dolphins (4-1-1-) at Dana Hills. The Dolphins took a 2-0 halftime lead.

Newport Harbor 5, Laguna Beach 1--Garth Tamblyn scored twice to lead the Sailors (4-1) at Newport Harbor. Dominic Pitz scored for the Artists.

In Empire League action:

Kennedy 1, Pacifica 0--Fernando Sosa pushed in a free kick taken by Marty Palmer after it bounced off the Pacifica goalie, giving Kennedy a victory in the Empire League opener for both teams. Kennedy goalie Jack Macconell made a save on a penalty kick to keep Pacifica from scoring early in the first half.
