San Diego High School Basketball : Peyroux Leads San Marcos Past San Dieguito, 52-50
The San Marcos High School basketball team held off a late charge by tournament host San Dieguito to win, 52-50, Saturday night in the championship round of the Mitchell Tournament.
Mike Peyroux scored 17 points to pace San Marcos (5-2), which held a 44-34 lead early in the fourth quarter. Paul Chan led San Dieguito (5-3) with 16 points, and teammate Jack Minger added 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Orange Glen 76, Hoover 61--Steve Klinger had 30 points to lead Orange Glen to the victory. Roberto Velasquz scored 18 for Hoover.
Fallbrook 51, Vista 49--Fallbrook came back from a 27-19 halftime deficit and outscored Vista, 21-12, in the final quarter for the victory. Fallbrook’s Elido Escobedo scored 8 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter. Mike Fleming had 14 points to lead Vista.
San Clemente 60, San Pasqual 50-- Forward Rob Buhler scored 19 points and teammate Todd Risko added 10 for San Clemente. Center Todd Perry led San Pasqual with 16.
El Camino 61, Newport Harbor 33--Edmond Johnson scored 24 points and had 10 assists for El Camino (6-1). Teammate Lee Cobbs added 18 points and 8 blocked shots.
Torrey Pines 79, Yuma 67--Torrey Pines outscored Yuma, 20-10, in the third quarter to break open the game. Mike Radcliffe led Torrey Pines (8-0) with 20 points, and Kevin Flanagan added 16. Yuma’s Sam Johnson led all scorers with 22 points.
