Louisville is ranked 18th in the nation by USA Today and is top-seeded in the 13-team tournament, which is considered one of the nation’s premier high school showcases, featuring five prep All-Americans and an All-Canadian player.

“They are a higher quality of team than we’re used to playing,” said Santa Barbara Coach Andrew Butcher. “If we can learn to play at that speed, maybe we can stay with them.”

Louisville extended a 21-16 first-quarter lead by outscoring the Dons 14-4 in the early minutes of the second quarter behind the strong rebounding of Kristen Carpenter and Barbara Terhar and 12 first-half points from Knapp. The Royals held Santa Barbara forward Shannon Frowis to just 15 points, 17 below her average.
