Orange County Community College Basketball : Battaglia Leads Golden West

Jeanine Battaglia, a freshman guard, scored 28 points Tuesday night to lead the Golden West College women’s basketball team to an 81-80 victory over Cypress at Golden West.

With an 81-74 lead and one minute left, Golden West made five turnovers, which led to six Cypress points, but the Chargers still failed to take the lead.

Stacy Yokota and Kim Dorlis led the Cypress (9-4) with 14 points each, and April Marion finished with 20 points for Golden West (14-0).

In men’s action:

Rancho Santiago 96, Marymount 79--Howard Cole scored 21 points to lead the Dons to the nonconference win at Rancho Santiago. Brent Martin added 18 points, and Chris Jefferson had 15 for the Dons, who improved to 12-3.
