Perhaps bad karma kills good teams. The Raiders haven’t been right since they blacked out last year’s playoff game with New England and irked millions of Southland supporters. The Patriots promptly humiliated the Raiders, and the “fall from excellence” continued unabated through the preseason and regular season. Maybe the support of millions of L.A. fans was more important than the sale of a few peristyle seats half a mile from the field.

Let’s look at the bright side. Al Davis won’t have the same agonizing decision to make this year, and the AFC championship game will undoubtedly be televised in L.A.
