Mahlstede, Seven Teammates Sign Letters of Intent
Jeff Mahlstede, an All-American defensive back, is among eight members of the Fullerton College football team who have signed letters of intent to attend four-year colleges, the college announced Friday.
Mahlstede, 6-feet 3-inches and 195 pounds, will attend Arizona State, the Pacific 10 and Rose Bowl champion. Mahlstede was voted to the J.C. Grid-Wire All-American team.
Fullerton quarterback Richard Williams, who set six passing records this season for the Hornets (6-4), signed to attend Nevada Las Vegas.
Williams set single-season records in attempts (229), completions (151) and yardage (1,974). He also set career records in attempts (362), completions (219) and yardage (2,902).
Other members of the Hornets to sign were defensive lineman Thomas Matthews (University of Cincinnati), offensive tackle Phil Nauahi (BYU), defensive back Dion Snow (Texas A&M;), defensive back Andre Spencer (Texas Christian), running back Bobby Stamps (San Jose State) and guard Russ Stange (Kansas State).
