Carrie Egan of Brea-Olinda High School scored 56 points Tuesday night to set an Orange County single-game girls’ basketball record in a 119-26 Orange League victory over Anaheim at Brea.

Wildcat point guard Teresa Cross also had a record-breaking evening. Cross, usually a third-string player, had a Southern Section-record 38 assists, breaking the mark of 32 by Renee Overton of Riverside Poly in 1981-82.

Egan, a 5-foot 8-inch senior forward who will play at Cal Poly Pomona next season, scored 21 points in the first quarter, 33 in the second, and the record-breaking basket for her 56th point 15 seconds into the third quarter. That broke the county mark of 55 points, set by Magnolia’s Michelle Carter last season, also against Anaheim.
